Mathieu Jon

Jon Mathieu is professor of history at the University of Lucerne, Switzerland. He was the founding director of the Institute of Alpine History at the University of Ticino and has published widely about mountain regions in the modern period and some related issues. Two recent books: The Third Dimension. A Comparative History of Mountains in the Modern Era, Cambridge 2011; Die Alpen. Raum – Kultur – Geschichte, Stuttgart 2015 (possibly available in English in 2018).
