The LabEx ITEM is a research network in the field of humanities and social sciences. The research laboratories that make up this network come from institutions located in the Isere and the Savoie french departments. Labex ITEM's vocation is to provide the mountain territories with the analytical capacity and expertise that are essential to cope with the various forms of change they face: economical, demographical, cultural, climatic and so on.

The objective of this platform is to to shed light on the LabEx ITEM's own activities and networks. Its goal is also to communicate about its partners' various information when related to the mountain territories. This is an open communication and collaborative tool for everyone.

This platform is currently in beta test. Don't hesitate to send us your comments.

Birds in rocky habitats of the Tatra Mountains (Carpathians): species diversity and multiple ecological relationships

Abstract Rocky habitats are regarded as biodiversity hot-spots. Along with high species diversity, diverse ecological relationships can be observed in these habitats. Large groups of bird species use rocks in various ways: as perch...

Experimental study of entrainment behavior of debris flow over channel inflexion points

Abstract On-spot observation and field reconnaissance of debris flows have revealed that inflexion points in the longitudinal profile of a movable channel may easily become unstable points that significantly affect their entrainmen...

Suspended sediment transport analysis in two Italian instrumented catchments

Abstract Suspended sediment transport in streams is an effective indicator of soil erosion at the watershed scale. This process was studied using the data obtained from two continuous monitoring stations installed in Italian waters...

Paleoclimatic record from Chumbur-Kosa section in Sea of Azov region since Marine Isotope Stage 11

Abstract Loess–paleosol sequences preserve records of climatic change during the Quaternary, which is important for paleoclimate study. In this study, a loess-palaeosol sequence from the Chumbur-Kosa (CK) site in the Sea of Azov re...

The first meteorological observations at a tropical high elevation site: Antisana, 1846

Abstract Antisana is a stratovolcano with an associated glacier located in the Ecuadorian Andes. Dr Aguirre made meteorological readings every day, at every hour from sunrise to sunset, from December 1845 to December 1846, at Antis...

Mapping the vegetation distribution of the permafrost zone on the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau

Abstract In this paper, an updated vegetation map of the permafrost zone in the Qinghai-Tibet Plateau (QTP) was delineated. The vegetation map model was extracted from vegetation sampling with remote sensing (RS) datasets by decisi...

Outlooks and construction of a territory. Oisans during the 1960's

A November 19 1960 French decree gave birth to an interministerial committee dedicated to mountains development. This committee initiated a national policy of touristic development so as to bring more modernity to mountain territories. In the Oisans a...

Effects of seasonal variations on soil microbial community composition of two typical zonal vegetation types in the Wuyi Mountains

Abstract Seasonal shifts play an important role in soil microbial community composition. This study examined the hypothesis that soil microbial community structure would vary with seasonal shifts in the Wuyi Mountains in Southeast Ch...

Soil microbial community composition and its driving factors in alpine grasslands along a mountain elevational gradient

Abstract Understanding the vertical distribution patterns of soil microbial community and its driving factors in alpine grasslands in the humid regions of the Tibet Plateau might be of great significance for predicting the soil micro...

Late Pleistocene - Holocene slip history of the Langshan-Seertengshan piedmont fault (Inner Mongolia, northern China) from cosmogenic 10 Be dating on a bedrock fault scarp

Abstract Offset geomorphic features and deformed late Quaternary strata indicate active deformation along the Langshan-Seertengshan piedmont fault (LSPF), one of the most active faults in the Hetao fault zone in Inner Mongolia, Nor...

Hydro-hypsometric analysis of tropical river basins, Southwest Coast of India using geospatial technology

Abstract The key aspect in planning and management of water resources is to analyze the runoff potential and erosion status of the river basin. For the detailed investigation of hydrological response, freely available Cartosat-1 (I...

Influence of the characteristics of fault gouge on the stability of a borehole wall

Abstract How to find more effective way to stabilize the borehole wall in the fault gouge section is the key technical challenge to control the stability of the borehole wall in the Wenchuan fault gouge section during the process o...
