The "Biometrics and Evolutionary Biology" laboratory UMR 5558 of the CNRS and the Claude Bernard University I is organized around two themes unifying "Biometrics" and "Evolutionary Biology". This specificity has presided over the creation of the laboratory and confers on it its originality. In addition, the LBBE, which has both a science and health component, is spread over several sites in Lyon.

The research themes of the LBBE are organized around :

  • From a methodological point of view, which affirms the importance of both mathematical and computational modeling
  • And an evolutionary perspective that organizes research independently of the level of biological organization.

It is in the synergy between biological problems and methodological developments that the greatest part of the scientific results of the laboratory is born.

The LBBE brings together 122 permanent staff and as many post-doctoral and doctoral candidates.
