Du 03/10/2016 au 30/09/2019

This thesis is part of a perspective on the economic and social history of mountain territories. It mobilizes a multidisciplinary approach at the crossroads of the history of sports leisure and the socioeconomics of sport.

It aims to examine the historical, economic and managerial dimensions of sports-tourism practices in the mountains. It is a question of updating the social and economic mechanisms of innovation and adaptation at the origin of the creation of wealth in the mountains (companies, jobs, income) and their evolution from the beginning of the 20th century to the present day. The question of the reconversion and socio-economic development of sports tourism has been centralized through the study of the creation of services (eg skiing, etc.) and sports- (Eg sports service provider, etc.). This doctoral research intends to improve knowledge on the specificities of mountain employment forms, by including this type of sports occupation in the analysis of mountain activities in terms of pluriactivities, reconversion, adaptation and innovation in the long term. It therefore aims to specify the social and economic mechanisms and processes for the construction of this resource by the various stakeholders: sports organizations, training structures, professional unions, local and regional authorities, the Ministry of Youth and Sports, Stations, market. It also aims to identify the mechanisms of control, regulation and development of this resource among the actors of the tourism system and mountain sport. It also intends to explain the successive economic model (s) that govern this socio-economic activity and their place in the economies of the mountain territories.
